Functional Works

In my functional work, I use hand-building techniques as well as throwing forms on the pottery wheel to create handmade ceramics for the everyday experience. I layer stencils of coloured underglazes and apply image transfers to create surface treatments. The design of these limited edition collections centers on serving pieces embellished with theme variations of the circle.

Granite Series

This series is both wheel thrown and formed by hand. The stone granite aesthetic is preserved with a clear glaze coat. The surface treatment consists of layering stencils of coloured underglazes. Glazed and fired to 2200°F/1200°C, this clay lends itself to regular use and is best maintained by hand washing. It is NOT microwave safe!

Dot Series

“Dot” series is either wheel thrown or rolled out and formed by hand. The surface treatment consists of layering stencils of coloured underglazes and applying image transfers. Glazed and fired to 2200°F/1200°C, porcelain lends itself to regular use and is dishwasher and microwave safe. However, I recommend hand washing.

Circle Series

This series plays with the theme of circles and a wide palette of colours. Playful elements are incorporated into the functionality of each piece. Each piece is decorated with stencils and coloured undeglazes and then fired with a transparent glaze. Each piece varies slightly in color and design ... no two pieces are identical. It is both microwave and dishwasher safe, although for longevity, I recommend hand washing.
