Acting Balance

Acting Balance: 2011; Porcelain, underglaze, glaze, hardwood, plywood; 122 x 100 x 6o cm

This work is made up of several ceramic elements along with cut wood and repurposed saw blades. The large architectural porcelain sculptures are hand-built using leather-hard slabs and left unglazed. The smaller pod shaped pieces are hand thrown and then altered, applying texture and coloured underglazes. The wood supports are hand designed to mimic the precarious architectural elements of walls, corners, and arches and integrate them into the installation narrative. The table legs are attached with magnets to encourage the impossible angle and function of so many crooked parts.
